Miss Frankie B. Myrick, stalwart leader and first principal, was largely responsible for the beginning foundation and progress of the school and for securing the interests of George Parkman Eastman. She replied when asked how she was able to do these things, "Well, we simply worked it up from the ground and prayed it down from the skies."
